How to Apply for Bihar’s Coconut Plant Distribution via Agri App

Bihar’s new coconut cultivation scheme requires interested farmers to complete an online application through the state’s official agriculture portal, Bihar Krishi. The digital process simplifies eligibility verification and ensures transparent allocation of subsidised saplings.

Applicants must be resident farmers of Bihar, possess a DBT‑issued farmer identification number, and hold certified proof of land suitable for planting. Required uploads include the latest land receipt, a copy of the bank passbook, and a passport‑size photo.

Once the application is submitted, the horticulture department will evaluate the documentation and assign saplings on a "first‑come, first‑served" basis. Siwan district plans to distribute 1,000 saplings initially, with each farmer able to request a minimum of five and a maximum of 712 trees.

The scheme’s financial structure sets the total cost of each sapling at Rs 85, of which the government contributes Rs 63.75, leaving the farmer to pay only Rs 21.25. This low contribution is designed to lower entry barriers for smallholders.

Farmers are encouraged to act promptly, as the number of saplings is limited. Successful participants can expect a boost in long‑term income through the high‑value coconut crop, aligning with Bihar’s broader goal of diversifying agricultural production.
