Anant Singh Gets Notice, Must Reply Within Seven Days
MLA Anant Singh faces a fresh challenge after the Bihar Assembly sent him a notice demanding a response within seven days. The step was taken after the JD(U) placed evidence before the House and urged that his membership be terminated.
The party's letter recommended the removal of Singh from the Assembly. Acting on this request, the House has now asked him to explain his position.
Singh received the notice on Monday. The proceedings stem from allegations of anti-party activities, which form the core of the JD(U)'s demand.
JD(U) state president Umesh Kushwaha had submitted an application to Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar. It asked for the cancellation of Singh's membership and alleged that he had been involved in anti-party activities. Based on this complaint, the Assembly has moved forward with its procedure.
Evidence placed before the Speaker
The JD(U) gave the Speaker several documents with its complaint, including newspaper cuttings, a CD and other evidence. After examining these materials, the Speaker ordered that the process continue.
Assembly Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh then issued the notice to Anant Singh.
No decision yet on membership
The notice requires the MLA to respond within seven days. No decision has been taken so far on cancelling his membership. The Assembly will take up the matter further only after Singh's reply is received.
Expelled from party for six years
Before this development, on October 24, 2026, Umesh Kushwaha had expelled Anant Singh from the party for six years and terminated his primary membership. The party is now pursuing the removal of his legislative membership.
