Bihar Boosts Solar Bio‑Gas Plants and Power Subsidies for Residents

Under the Urban Development and Housing Department’s proposal, ten acres of land in each of four municipal corporations—Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and Bihar Sharif—will be provided free for 25 years to set up compressed biogas plants. Companies such as Indian Oil Corporation, Gas Authority of India, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum will receive the parcels. The Energy Department also approved the creation of 221 new posts in the state power transmission company, ranging from assistant executive engineers to senior technical officers. Moreover, the "Surya Ghar" free electricity scheme will grant up to ₹10,000 per kilowatt for a maximum of 2 kW, with an overall allocation of ₹1,000 crore for the year.
