Bihar Reviews AI Policy 2026, Eyes Annual Mega AI Event

Patna, October 22: The Bihar government has reviewed its AI Policy 2026 as part of a broader push to make the state a centre for new technology, innovation and digital entrepreneurship. The policy seeks to encourage AI use, build technical competence among youth and open fresh opportunities for investment and jobs.

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary led the review on Thursday. He set two major goals: training five lakh students in artificial intelligence over the next five years, and holding one big AI programme in the state every year.

The Chief Minister said that Bihar should plan its approach carefully if it wants to become a leading state in AI and emerging technologies. He stressed that suitable opportunities must be created for AI firms, startups and digital enterprises so that the state can become a key centre for innovation.

A presentation by Abhay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Information Technology Department, offered a detailed look at the policy. It covered measures to attract investment, skill development initiatives and the strengthening of the basic infrastructure needed for artificial intelligence.

The Chief Minister noted that investment and employment generation must go hand in hand. Under the plan, one lakh youth will be trained in AI every year for five years. Together, these efforts are intended to prepare five lakh students and young people for future technological needs.

The meeting also discussed the development of advanced technologies, including large AI models, and the need to encourage innovation. Expanding technical facilities for AI in the state and promoting government-backed programmes were other key points of discussion.

Each year for the next five years, Bihar will host a major AI event. The aim is to create a shared platform for technology experts, companies, startups and students.

The Chief Minister asked the concerned department to form a dedicated team to implement the Bihar AI Policy effectively and to meet the targets within the stipulated time.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, Lokesh Kumar Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister, Sanjay Kumar Singh and other officials.
