State’s Revenue Gap Hits 5.8% of GSDP, Yadav Calls for Immediate Action

Citing official figures for the 2025‑26 fiscal year, Yadav stated that Bihar recorded the highest fiscal deficit among major Indian states, amounting to 5.8% of its Gross State Domestic Product. He warned that such a deficit, combined with a mounting debt burden, threatens the state’s ability to fund core services. The opposition figure urged the government to adopt a long‑term strategy for revenue generation, budgeting discipline and debt reduction.
