Bihar Police Seize 10 Lakh in Engineer Raid Over Wealth Gaps
A team from Bihar’s Special Vigilance Unit executed a wide-ranging search operation on Wednesday, focusing on residences and offices connected to Engineer Vijay Kumar. The multi-district exercise was prompted by an ongoing probe into allegations of unexplained wealth accumulation.
Investigators have thus far confiscated approximately 10 lakh rupees in cash. The enforcement unit is actively cross-checking property registration papers, financial statements, and investment records to establish the exact scale of the engineer’s holdings.
The operation extended across Saharsa, Patna, and Aurangabad districts. In Saharsa, both the official office and private residence were searched. Authorities also targeted sites on Goladar Road and in Mahesh Nagar, Danapur, as well as multiple residential properties in Daudnagar and Aurangabad.
The coordinated effort has sparked notable reactions within government and departmental networks. The primary focus remains on comparing the official’s stated income sources with his actual financial footprint. Investigators are meticulously auditing land deals, bank transfers, and other questionable assets.
This enforcement drive was set in motion following a formal grievance regarding disproportionate assets. While a comprehensive official report detailing every seized item and document is still pending, authorities note that a definitive valuation will emerge only after the retrieval phase ends and all paperwork undergoes strict verification.
Vigilance authorities in Bihar routinely audit officials by reconciling annual asset disclosures with declared earnings. Should significant discrepancies surface between reported finances and real-world wealth, the agency possesses the authority to initiate prosecution under state corruption laws.
