Bihar Police Arrest Main Suspect in Viral Obscene Video Scandal
Patna, July 2 (IAN) – The chief accused in the sensational Gaya video controversy was apprehended by Bihar police on Thursday after he surrendered at the Fulwari Sharif station in Patna. Identified as Rehan, the suspect had been evading capture for a number of days until intensified pressure from the Special Investigation Team compelled his surrender.
Authorities reported that the SIT’s relentless raids across multiple districts eliminated any safe haven for the accused, leading him to present himself to the police. A team from Gaya district promptly placed him under custodial care and arranged his transport back for further legal action.
The investigation originated from a video alleged to feature a young woman from the Banke Bazaar locality, which rapidly spread across social media platforms. The victim’s brother filed an FIR against Rehan, triggering a broad search operation that ultimately resulted in the surrender.
Inspector General of Police Vikas Vaibhav of Magadh Range pledged strict enforcement of the law against those who assault women’s dignity. He highlighted the police’s resolve to fast‑track the judicial process, ensuring swift adjudication and appropriate punishment as mandated by the courts.
