Tension gripped Forbisganj in Araria district after a routine parking disagreement at a bustling market led to two brutal deaths. On April 9, sattu shop owner Ravi Chauhan fatally slashed truck driver Nabi Hussain during a heated exchange, sparking immediate retaliation from outraged bystanders who hunted down and killed the perpetrator.
Details emerged of the midday confrontation near the vegetable market. Hussain, hailing from Amauna in Jogbani, was unloading produce from his pickup when Chauhan, a regular vendor at the APMC spot, objected to the parking. Words turned to blows, and Chauhan allegedly wielded a sharp blade, ending Hussain’s life instantly.
Fleeing the scene, Chauhan sought refuge in thick shrubbery, but an angry crowd tracked him down. The mob’s severe beating proved fatal, marking a grim cycle of violence. Police arrived swiftly, securing the area and taking custody of the bodies for autopsy.
SDPO Mukesh Kumar Saha addressed the media, assuring a full investigation. ‘Post-mortems are underway, and we’re pinpointing mob members for prosecution. No one will escape justice,’ he affirmed. The episode has ignited debates on mob justice and the need for better conflict resolution in public spaces.
Local residents expressed dismay over the rapid escalation, calling for increased police presence in markets to prevent such horrors. As investigations continue, the community mourns two lives lost to an avoidable feud.
