Bihar migrants among seven victims of Bangalore quarry rock slide
A tragic rock slide at a mining pit in Madpattana, south Bangalore, claimed seven lives on Thursday. The deceased workers were confirmed to be migrants from Bihar who were part of a crew of around twenty men operating in the quarry. The collapse occurred at about 5 a.m., shortly after a night shift crew had taken over the site. According to survivors, a large stone slab suddenly gave way, crushing workers below. Five injured persons were rushed to the nearest hospital for critical care. Authorities have yet to identify the bodies, and recovery operations are hampered by additional large stones that have damaged excavation equipment. Chief Minister D K Shivakumar expressed condolences on the social platform X, emphasising that safety compliance in mineral extraction zones is the responsibility of quarry owners and that the state will act firmly against any breach of regulations.
