Bihar flood impact lower than feared, says Manoj Jha

Addressing the recent floods that hit Bihar after the Nepal disaster, Jha noted that the damage was far less severe than earlier predictions. While the water levels rose, the scale and intensity of the flooding did not match the worst‑case scenarios. Nevertheless, he stressed that the state’s disaster response remains reactive rather than proactive, and that significant gaps in preparedness still need to be closed.
