Bihar Cabinet Clears 25 Major Proposals Across Multiple Sectors
Patna, July 15 – In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, the Bihar cabinet approved 25 significant proposals spanning education, tourism, urban development, Panchayati Raj, civil aviation, information technology, transport, social welfare and the home department. The state expects these decisions to accelerate infrastructure development, reinforce administrative structures and expand public service delivery.
Under the "Seven Resolutions‑3" scheme, the cabinet gave the go‑ahead to convert several secondary and higher‑secondary schools into model institutions, adding to the existing Sarawati Vidyalaya network. The Bihar Tourism Service Rules, 2026 and the Tourism Sub‑Service Classification Rules, 2026 were also ratified.
Tourism initiatives include the formation of Bihar State Ropeway Company Limited to operate ropeway systems at major pilgrim sites, and project approvals for the Mata Mundeshwari Temple in Kaimur and the Mata Sita birthplace in Sitamarhi. In the aviation sector, the government authorized acquisition of over 3,145 acres across Bhagalpur and Munger for a greenfield airport, with a financial outlay exceeding ₹1,329 crore. MOUs with the Airports Authority of India were approved for greenfield airports at Rajgir, Rohtas and Kaimur, and a proposal to lease aircraft for Bihar Aviation Institute trainees received clearance.
Urban development plans under the Amrit 2.0 programme were approved for sewerage networks in Hajipur and water supply projects in Khagaria, Sitamarhi and Samastipur. The "Policy Bihar‑2026" for safe reuse of treated wastewater was also adopted. The home department revised the women police scooter scheme to purchase 1,500 scooters (1,000 petrol, 500 electric) and increased the monthly salary of former‑service personnel serving as jail co‑wardens from ₹19,800 to ₹30,000. A new compensation policy for families of deceased inmates was introduced.
Additional approvals covered updated Panchayati Raj regulations, notification templates for gram panchayats and district councils, and the establishment of the Bihar State Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence with its operational framework. Officials said these steps will bolster the execution of development projects and reinforce the state's administrative and technical capacities.
