Bhagalpur to Host State’s First AI and Computer Science University, Says CM

In a ceremony held at the newly opened government degree college in Goradih, Bhagalpur, the Chief Minister of Bihar marked the start of academic sessions and unveiled plans for the state's inaugural university dedicated to Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science.

Labelled as a historic leap for higher education, the university is intended to serve students within their own blocks, reducing the need for long‑distance travel for quality instruction. The CM also announced the revival of the ancient Vikramshila University in a contemporary form, with about 220 acres already transferred and a goal to have the campus functional within a year.

Further announcements covered a new architecture and civil engineering university in Muzaffarpur, approval of four private universities, and a series of infrastructure projects: a 400‑acre industrial hub in Bhagalpur, restoration of the Vikramshila bridge by 30 November, and the launch of an 83‑km "Ganga Marine Drive" linking Munger to Bhagalpur. Additional developments include a rope‑way to Bateshwar Dham, two airports in the Bhagalpur region, and a power plant at Pirpanti slated to rise to 2,400 MW.

The Chief Minister also pledged a tough stance on law and order, announcing fast‑track courts for quicker trials and stringent measures against cyber crime. Symbolic checks and certificates were handed out to beneficiaries of various state welfare schemes.
