Party Leaders Meet in Bengaluru; Calls for Better Representation of Dalits and Backward Classes

The Karnataka Congress convened a high‑level meeting in Bengaluru on September 15, bringing together KPCC chief B.K. Hariprasad, Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara, and veteran legislator K.N. Rajanna. The agenda focused primarily on the party’s organisational structure in Tumkur district, but quickly expanded to address broader concerns about the recent slate of district presidents.

Rajanna underscored that the list of 35 newly appointed district heads lacks both gender diversity and adequate representation of Dalit and backward‑class leaders. He warned that the current composition could alienate core voter segments and hamper the party’s outreach efforts.

Hariprasad acknowledged the gaps and promised to raise the issue with the national leadership. Parameshwara, who met Rajanna at his residence before joining Hariprasad, expressed willingness to support any measures that enhance inclusivity within the party’s ranks.
