Begusarai Temple‑Visit Turned Tragedy After Truck Ramming Tempo

What began as a devotional journey to the Sultanganj shrine turned disastrous in Begusarai district on Thursday when a speeding truck collided with a tempo that was transporting pilgrims. The CNG tempo, used to ferry worshippers from Baruni to Sultanganj, broke down, forcing passengers to exit and attempt to push the vehicle.

Amid this effort, a truck barreling down the road struck the tempo and the group of devotees assisting it, causing a severe accident in the area between Bakhda Dhala and Sunha Dhala. Police arrived promptly, aided by local residents, and moved the injured to the nearby community health centre.

Karim, a resident of Bihat who drove the tempo, passed away during treatment. Injured pilgrims include Anish Saini (40) from Hajipur, Ram Ratan Rai (48), and Vikas Kumar of Baruni, all of whom are receiving medical care at Begusarai Sadar Hospital.

The truck driver escaped the scene. Law enforcement has seized the vehicle, filed an FIR for dangerous driving, and launched a search based on testimonies from survivors and witnesses. The investigation aims to determine the exact cause and bring the fleeing driver to justice.
