Bankipur By‑poll: Minister Paswan Labels BJP’s Lotus as Only ‘Mark’ in Constituency

New Delhi – In a candid interview, minister Lakhan Paswan declared that the lotus symbol of the Bharatiya Janata Party is the sole imprint left in Bankipur. He emphasized that the constituency has been a BJP bastion for the past thirty years, with the party winning every election during that span. Paswan cited the 2023 result, where the BJP defeated its rivals by a margin of roughly 51,000 votes, and promised an even larger victory this time. He highlighted the selection of a booth‑level worker as the party’s candidate and drew parallels with opposition leader Prashant Kishor, noting that Kishor’s nominees had their bail confiscated after the last assembly vote. Paswan warned that Kishor’s influence would remain marginal in the by‑poll. On the issue of activist Sonam Wangchuk’s sit‑in, he reiterated that while the right to protest is respected, the government must intervene when a protester’s health is at risk.
