The first SIT, created within hours of the new cabinet’s oath, examined a 2023 claim that security staff of then chief minister attacked Youth Congress members. Its investigation led to the suspension of senior police officer M R Ajit Kumar over alleged interference. The second SIT, formed in July, was tasked with probing suspected malpractice in the KPSC exams. The third, announced on August 31, targeted alleged financial irregularities linked to the planned visit of Lionel Messi and the Argentina football team. The fourth SIT now turns its attention to the February 25 protest at Kanur railway station, where activists displayed a black flag against Veena George and five of them were arrested.
