Thousands Witness Baba Mahakal’s Silver Crown and Floral Adornment at Dawn Aarti
Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple hosted a grand Bhavsm Aarti on the morning of 4 October 2026, marking the Ashwin Krishna Paksha Navami. Devotees from across the country arrived to see Baba Mahakal adorned with a gleaming silver crown, fig garlands, and a bhang mala.
The ritual began with priests seeking the permission of Lord Veerabhadra, followed by the resonant sounds of drums, nagadas, and conch shells as the temple doors opened. A sacred water offering was made, and the deity received a five‑nectar abhishek comprising milk, curd, ghee, honey, and fruit juices.
Fragrant flowers such as mogra and roses were placed around the deity, and a lavish offering of fruits, dry fruits, and sweets was presented. The Great Akhada then offered holy ash, initiating the Bhavsm Aarti.
As the ash settled, the divine form of Baba Mahakal appeared, filling the courtyard with chants, music, and an overwhelming sense of devotion among the gathered crowd.
