Ayushman Bharat PM‑JAY Supports 1,102 Out‑of‑State Patients in First Month

In its inaugural month, West Bengal’s Ayushman Bharat Prime Minister Jan Arogya Yojana has facilitated cashless treatment for 1,102 patients who traveled outside the state for medical care. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari pointed out that the scheme’s design enables beneficiaries to seek quality health services wherever accredited hospitals are located.

The programme has also attracted patients from other states to West Bengal’s hospitals, with 1,849 out‑of‑state patients receiving treatment under the same cashless umbrella. This two‑way flow underscores the scheme’s role in strengthening national health‑care networks.

Overall, more than 50,000 individuals have been admitted for a range of procedures, and the total claim amount crossed ₹28 crore, reflecting the substantial financial support extended to low‑income families.

Officials credited doctors, nurses, and administrative personnel for their relentless effort, which has been crucial in ensuring that the scheme delivers on its promise of affordable, quality health care to every citizen.
