Proposed AYUSH University to Consolidate Traditional Health Systems

The envisaged AYUSH university will serve as a single coordinating body for all AYUSH educational institutions currently affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences. Its mandate includes integrating curricula, fostering interdisciplinary research, and promoting clinical training across Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Siddha, Unani and other government‑recognised streams.

By uniting these institutions, the university aims to raise the quality of AYUSH education, expand opportunities for drug innovation, and support policy initiatives that reflect modern healthcare demands while preserving indigenous knowledge.

Kerala, already recognised as a leading centre for Ayurvedic practice, expects the university to reinforce its status as a national reference point for traditional medicine.
