Ayodhya Deepotsav 2026 Goes Online With Shri Mandir Lamp Offerings
The Ayodhya Deepotsav-2026 will reach beyond the city's borders this year, as the Shri Mandir App brings remote devotees into the lamp-lighting tradition. The platform will facilitate the lighting of one lakh diyas as part of the Uttar Pradesh government's broader target of 30 lakh diyas under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Devotees who cannot travel to Ayodhya can now make an offering from anywhere in the world. Each diya will be placed in the devotee's own name at the feet of Lord Shri Ram at the Rajdwar, making the offering personal even at a distance.
The app offers four options: one, five, 11 or 21 diyas. After online booking, learned priests at the Rajdwar will make a formal sankalp using the devotee's name and gotra before lighting the diyas through Vedic rituals.
To keep devotees connected to the moment, the entire process will be filmed. The recording will later be shared digitally with the devotee who made the booking, allowing them to witness their offering.
This year marks the fifth straight year of this initiative by Shri Mandir App during the festival's 10th edition. The app says it is designed for elderly devotees, people with health concerns and Ram devotees living overseas or in far-off regions of the country.
The Deepotsav will also include other rituals and community services. An Akhand Ramayan path will be recited continuously, and acharyas and Brahmins will be honoured and served according to tradition. Maha Annadaan and bhandara arrangements have been planned for more than 5,000 saints, devotees and needy people.
Prashant Sachan, founder and CEO of Shri Mandir, said that geography should not stand between a devotee and their deity's holy site. He said the Uttar Pradesh government under Yogi Adityanath's guidance is working to establish the Ayodhya Deepotsav and India's cultural heritage globally, and that Shri Mandir considers it a great fortune to be part of the effort.
He said the organisation hopes that the resolve of every Ram devotee, wherever they live, reaches Ayodhya, and that every diya lit in their name is offered with full devotion, respect and Vedic discipline.
With more than 40 million downloads, Shri Mandir App currently offers online puja, religious services, offerings and prasad distribution connected to over 100 major temples across India. Its digital Deepotsav initiative is expected to give a meaningful spiritual experience to devotees who otherwise could not participate.
