Average daily UPI trades hit 75.7 million with ₹96,405 crore each

The latest monthly summary from the National Payments Corporation of India reveals that the Unified Payments Interface processed an average of 75.7 million transactions per day in June 2024. Each day’s settlement value averaged roughly ₹96,405 crore, underscoring the platform’s high‑volume, high‑value capability.

Overall transaction numbers rose 23 percent year‑on‑year to reach 22.72 billion, while total value grew 20 percent to about ₹28.92 trillion. May’s figures were slightly lower, with 74.8 million daily trades and a daily value of ₹96,465 crore.

Since its inception, UPI has transformed India’s payment infrastructure, expanding from two crore transactions in FY 2016‑17 to a projected 24,162 crore transactions by FY 2025‑26. The system is now operational in over eight foreign markets, including the UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka, positioning it as a global fintech contender.
