Authority Orders Committee to Revise PG Guidelines and Identify Alternate Dorms

Deputy Lieutenant Sandhu instructed the Urban Development Ministry to lead a task force that will overhaul institutional guidelines for PG accommodations. The committee, comprising officials from the University Grants Commission, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, and the DDMA, will map out vacant university hostels, private properties, and DDMA‑owned buildings that could be converted into safe student residences.

The panel will also evaluate fire‑safety compliance under Building Regulation 27, ensuring that every PG space obtains the mandatory fire‑clearance before occupancy. Recommendations are expected within a fortnight, aiming to prevent any recurrence of such tragedies.
