Authorities Urge Residents to Avoid Hazard Zones Following Kashmir Flash Flood
The flash flood that hit the Avura Nallah stream in Pahalgam, Anantnag district, left dozens of families displaced and caused widespread damage to residential and commercial structures. Senior police officials, led by SSP Amod Ashok Nagpuray, have issued a stern warning to the public, urging them to stay away from identified hazard zones until water levels recede and safety assessments are completed.
Local police stations have deployed additional manpower to monitor vulnerable stretches, assist stranded residents, and coordinate with the district disaster management unit for swift relief. The administration has also set up temporary shelters and medical aid camps to address immediate needs of the affected population.
Residents are requested to follow official guidance, avoid unauthorized rescues, and cooperate with relief teams. The police reaffirmed that their top priority is the safety of the community, and they will maintain close collaboration with all relevant agencies to mitigate the impact of the flooding.
