Authorities Uncover Wider Terror Plot After Batala Grenade Incident

Following the grenade blast at Batala’s urban‑estate police post, authorities have now detained the third alleged participant, a move credited to a joint operation between Jalandhar’s counter‑intelligence wing and Batala police. DGP Gaurav Yadav disclosed on X that the suspect is a member of a terror cell nurtured by Pakistan’s ISI and guided by a mastermind stationed in Portugal. Early findings suggest the accused, together with other operatives, executed the attack on 1 August under the direction of the Portugal‑based handler and later went into hiding, plotting further strikes on police stations across Punjab. Investigators are expanding the probe to uncover the entire network, pinpoint the overseas handler and dismantle any domestic support framework. Punjab police reaffirm their resolve to eliminate terror networks, curb organized crime, and ensure the safety and security of the public.
