Authorities Step Up Surveillance and Treatment for Chandipura Virus

In response to the growing Chandipura crisis, Gujarat’s health ministry has intensified surveillance activities across five key districts. Teams are inspecting mud‑walled homes for fissures, applying large‑scale insecticide sprays in livestock zones, and collecting environmental samples for virus detection.

Children presenting early symptoms such as high fever, involuntary movements, or persistent vomiting are being fast‑tracked to district hospitals. Doctors are instructed to initiate supportive care without delay, including fluid therapy and respiratory support.

The state has also launched a public‑awareness campaign urging citizens to disregard rumors and cooperate fully with health workers. Parents are specifically asked to seal cracks in traditional homes and report any suspicious illness promptly.

Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel has ordered continuous monitoring of the situation, ensuring that resources are allocated quickly and that preventive measures are enforced throughout Gujarat.
