Authorities seize expired stock and vehicles in Pune food crackdown

From 1 to 9 August, FDA inspectors examined 19 food outlets in Pune, uncovering massive quantities of prohibited and expired products. The raid resulted in the confiscation of stock valued at ₹41,38,667. Four vehicles carrying goods worth roughly ₹14.90 lakh were also impounded. Fourteen establishments were sealed, and a total of 24 people were taken into custody for breaching food‑safety regulations. The operation highlighted widespread non‑compliance, including the repeated use of the same cooking oil and the absence of licensed food‑handling procedures.
