Authorities Seal Off Suspicious Buses, Taxis in Noida After Child Abuse Case

In response to the collective assault on a 17‑year‑old student, Noida police carried out a comprehensive night‑long verification of public conveyances. Teams stopped dozens of buses and taxis, scrutinising registration certificates, windshield tint, interior curtains and emergency illumination. Findings revealed many vehicles missing mandatory panic‑button systems and other safety gear.

Earlier that morning, a transport‑department sweep had already impounded nine buses and generated citations for about 400 operators who violated safety norms. Under the leadership of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh, DCP Sad M. Khan and ADC Manisha Singh, officers conducted foot patrols in sector 20 and 39, directing squads to erect barricades around suspect vehicles and to carry out detailed investigations.

The crackdown extended to sector 142 near Advant Cut, where DCP Shailendra Kumar Singh and ADC Swatantra Kumar Singh supervised checks on both buses and taxis. Police verified compliance with lighting standards, prohibited film applications and unauthorized alterations. Officials have ordered ongoing monitoring of public transport to safeguard women and students, promising swift punitive measures against any breach.
