Authorities Sample Seven Dairy Items, Lab Tests Ongoing in Noida

The Food Safety and Drug Administration of Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddha Nagar district has collected laboratory samples of seven different dairy commodities as part of a pre‑Raksha Bandhan quality audit. Inspectors from the department inspected delivery trucks at Jevar Toll Plaza on the night of August 23, seizing paneer from vehicles arriving from dairies in Chaudhary, Pisawa, Jalalpur, Aligarh, and from Bhimsen Dairy in Bajna and Mathura.

The following morning, the same enforcement squads visited a range of sweet manufacturers across Noida. In Sector‑134, a sample of ghevar was taken from the B.S. Bikaner sweets outlet, while at the Shagun Sweets plant in Eco‑Tech‑2, both khoya and ghevar specimens were collected for analysis. The most significant seizure involved a Rasgulla plant in Sector‑72, Sarfarabad, where officials discovered roughly 100 kg of the confection in a deteriorated state. The sweets were infested with insects and were immediately destroyed on site.

All seven samples have been forwarded to the district food‑testing laboratory, where they will undergo detailed microbiological and compositional examinations. Based on the laboratory results, the department will pursue appropriate action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, which may include penalties, product recalls, or closure of non‑compliant facilities. The continuous monitoring underscores the department’s commitment to safeguarding public health during festival seasons.
