Law enforcement in Bilaspur has taken decisive action after a Garba‑themed promotional video was circulated online. The footage shows a female performer and her team smoking cigarettes and displaying a pistol‑type prop while trying to market Garba tickets and makeup kits.

Police officials argued that the scene undermines Indian cultural heritage and may encourage unsafe habits among the younger demographic. After receiving multiple grievances, they invoked relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code to launch an inquiry.

The investigation led to the arrest of nine people shown in the video. Legal steps such as filing charges and securing high‑value bonds have been initiated to ensure accountability.

Authorities warned that any future misuse of devotional symbols, religious customs, or cultural icons for advertising or entertainment that offends community sentiments will be met with stringent legal action.
