Authorities Ensure Seamless Services for Pilgrims Ahead of Amarnath Trek
The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, inspected the Amarnath Yatra transit camp at Panta Chowk, Srinagar, on Thursday. Accompanied by senior officials, he examined the facilities provided for pilgrims, including lodging, hygiene, medical aid, drinking water, electricity, fire‑fighting equipment and overall security. Sinha instructed that from registration onward, the entire pilgrim experience must be hassle‑free. He underscored the responsibility of the administration to guarantee 24‑hour assistance, proper meals, safe accommodation and uninterrupted utilities for every devotee of Lord Shiva. According to recent statistics, this year’s pilgrimage attracted more participants than the previous edition, signalling a boost for the region’s tourism sector and local businesses such as hotels, transport operators and eateries. The Lt Governor also stressed the importance of showcasing Jammu‑Kashmir’s hand‑loom and handicraft items to the influx of pilgrims, aiming to expand market reach for local artisans under the "one district, one product" program. He lauded the collaborative coordination among the district administration, the Shrine Board, police and other security agencies, urging them to maintain effective crowd‑management, transparent registration and timely updates for devotees. He warned that those attempting fake registrations will face stringent legal action.
