Authorities Detain Suspects After Guide Murder Near Jaipur’s Amer Castle

Jaipur authorities announced on September 9 that the two men suspected of stabbing tourist guide Manish Sony near the Amer Castle have been taken into custody. The incident occurred on Monday morning around 10 a.m. when Sony attempted to stop a jeep from moving through the congested Mavatha lane adjacent to the fort.

Witnesses claim the jeep driver, Aazam, and his accomplice Nazish reacted violently, pulling a knife and thrusting it into Sony's stomach. Despite rapid medical attention at S. M. S. Hospital, the guide died from excessive blood loss and internal trauma.

The killing ignited protests in the Amer locality, with shopkeepers shutting down their businesses and demonstrators gathering outside the Amer police station. Protesters called for a fast‑track legal process, strict punishment for the attackers, and monetary relief for the deceased's family.

Police statements confirm that both accused are being interrogated and that teams are working to retrieve the weapon. SHO Rajendra Godara highlighted that Aazam already faces two pending criminal cases.

In a bid to curb unrest, extra police units were deployed, and traffic flow on the Jal Mahal route was diverted. Officials have appealed for calm and cooperation as the investigation continues.
