Authorities Destroy Over 1 Ton of Contaminated Dairy Products Before Festival

Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, food‑safety officials in the Gautam Buddha Nagar district have demolished more than one metric tonne of dairy goods deemed unsafe for consumption. Inspectors from the state food‑safety department, following orders from the regional commissioner, carried out surprise checks at confectionery outlets, wholesale markets and transportation vans. The raid resulted in the seizure and destruction of roughly 910 kg of cheese, 160 kg of sweets and 125 kg of other food items that showed signs of adulteration. An extra 100 kg of boondi was also seized. Samples from the destroyed batches, together with 40 additional specimens, have been dispatched to the laboratory for detailed analysis. The campaign, which began on 22 August 2026, will continue throughout the holiday to safeguard public health. Authorities warned that any violators identified after the lab results are processed will be prosecuted under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
