Authorities Deploy NDRF, Fire and Police Teams to Save Trapped Victims in Moshi

Emergency responders rushed to Moshi, a suburb of Pimpri‑Chinchwad, after a building collapse left dozens of construction workers buried under debris. The National Disaster Response Force, along with fire‑fighters, police officers, and army units, have been on site since the afternoon of the previous day.

By the early hours of Thursday, nine people were successfully evacuated from the wreckage. The search continues, with officials estimating that another six to seven individuals may still be trapped.

District Commissioner Ganesh Ingale briefed the media, stating that the rescue effort began shortly after the collapse was reported around noon. He emphasized that all available agencies—including medical teams—are engaged in a coordinated effort to locate and extract any remaining victims.

The collapsed building stood adjacent to a dumping ground that has existed since 1982, accumulating a massive mound of waste. Heavy rainfall over the last 48 hours caused waste and water to surge onto the structure, leading to the failure of half the building. About twenty‑two workers were present at the time, with five managing to flee as the collapse occurred.

Municipal Commissioner Vijay Suryavanshi described the incident as a natural disaster triggered by a landslide, noting that even well‑constructed buildings can succumb under such conditions. He confirmed that six persons have already been rescued and that teams are persisting in their effort to reach the remaining trapped workers.
