Authorities Confiscate Triprolidine Hydrochloride and Codeine Syrup in Assam
Assam’s law‑enforcement officials seized a cache of medical‑grade psychotropic substances during a targeted operation in Dhubri district. The operation stemmed from intelligence about the sale of narcotics in the Chotobajani area and led to the arrest of two alleged traffickers, residents of nearby localities.
Among the items taken were seven bottles of triprolidine hydrochloride, several bottles of a codeine‑based cough syrup, 134 Spas Plus capsules, and 69 tablets of Nitrazepam (commercially known as Nitcor‑10). Additionally, cash of ₹5,000 was recovered, which investigators suspect is linked to the drug distribution activities.
The confiscated goods are covered by the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, prompting a formal case filing. Investigators are now working to trace the origin of these medicines, unravel the distribution network, and identify any further individuals involved.
The Dhubri police unit, aligned with the state’s intensified anti‑drug strategy, continues to conduct systematic raids, resulting in a steady increase in arrests and the seizure of illegal substances across Assam.
