Maharashtra’s food safety officials have confiscated a large cache of banned consumables worth more than ₹12 million from a factory in Akola. The haul included gutkha, pan masala formulations, scented tobacco, and flavored supari—all listed as prohibited under the Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition) Regulations. In addition to the finished goods, authorities seized raw material stock, specialized processing equipment, and associated packaging supplies. The operation, conducted under the direction of the state food safety commissioner, marks one of the biggest crackdowns on illegal tobacco‑related food products in the region this year.
