Social media platforms flagged in ATS operation against Pakistani gangster’s recruitment drive

Investigators disclosed that the network operated by Shahzad Bhatti relied heavily on popular internet platforms. Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and WhatsApp were employed to circulate propaganda, exploit religious and social sensitivities, and lure financially strained young men with promises of quick money. The ATS is now mapping every digital contact point to curtail the spread of extremist content and prevent the formation of sleeper cells.
