Ramdas Athawale launched a strong counterattack against opposition leaders who have been making personal attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing the media in Mumbai, the Union minister defended Modi’s stature as the country’s leader and warned that repeated use of unparliamentary language damages political discourse. Athawale highlighted how Rahul Gandhi’s forecasts about the BJP’s defeat have repeatedly proven wrong. He recalled that in 2019, when Gandhi predicted Modi’s exit, the BJP won a massive mandate. The same pattern repeated in 2024 when opposition parties united against the ruling alliance, yet the NDA government was re-elected. Athawale emphasized that despite losing some seats, the BJP accepted the verdict gracefully without alleging irregularities. He confidently declared that Modi will lead the country again in 2029. Turning to comments by DMK’s Udhayanidhi Stalin, Athawale said it is Modi and Amit Shah’s decisive leadership, not Rahul Gandhi, that drives electoral success. He also criticized Congress for allegedly betraying DMK in Tamil Nadu by supporting Vijay’s party to form the state government after winning only five seats in alliance with DMK.
