Personal Assistant of MP Abhishek Banerjee Omitted from Salboni Charge Sheet

During the Salboni land‑grab probe, the name of Sumit Roy, personal aide to Lok Sabha MP Abhishek Banerjee, surfaced repeatedly, yet the CID’s charge sheet did not name him as an accused. The omission has sparked intense discussion among state politicians.

Earlier this year, a joint raid involving Kolkata police and the Central Armed Police Forces targeted Banerjee’s residence in an effort to locate Roy. Sources indicate that the CID has now petitioned the Supreme Court for permission to interrogate Roy, arguing that custodial questioning is essential for the case.

The Medinipur CJM Court has granted the request, and there are indications that a supplementary charge sheet may be filed later, potentially bringing Roy into the formal list of accused parties.
