Assam Relief Operations Run 224 Camps Sheltering Over 73,000 Flood Displaced
The Assam government intensified its humanitarian response as flood waters receded. A network of 224 relief camps is now active, providing emergency shelter to 73,074 displaced families across the state.
In addition to shelter, 1,844 relief distribution centres are delivering food, medical kits and other essential supplies. So far, 29,985 individuals have been evacuated to designated safe locations.
Preliminary damage assessments reveal that 3,771 houses have been completely destroyed, while another 12,987 structures suffered partial damage. The State Disaster Management Authority continues to monitor the situation and coordinate with district administrations for swift rehabilitation.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized that relief work remains ongoing and that the focus has now shifted to rebuilding homes, restoring basic services and supporting affected families back to normalcy.
