Death Toll Rises to 75 as Rescue Ops Continue in Flood‑Stricken Assam

As Assam grapples with relentless monsoon floods, the death count has climbed to between 70 and 75, officials said. Rescue teams are battling swift currents, mudslides and debris to locate survivors trapped under water and sludge.

The minister warned that the fatality figure could increase, noting that debris from neighboring Nagaland is hampering search efforts. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, and local administration are working in shifts to extract victims and provide medical aid.

Emergency shelters are being stocked with food, clean water, and medicines to support displaced families, while the government monitors the situation round the clock.
