Asadhi Beej celebrations see Modi send greetings to Kachhi diaspora
Prime Minister Narendra Modi used his X account on Thursday to convey New Year greetings to the Kachhi diaspora as they observe Asadhi Beej, the traditional Kachhi New Year. The brief post featured a time‑honored Kachhi saying that emphasizes the community’s enduring connection to its motherland.
Modi’s greeting opened with the customary “Ram‑Ram” and “Jiji‑Jiji,” a nod to the cultural etiquette observed among Kachhi families worldwide. He highlighted the distinct identity of Kachhi people, comparing them to fish that never leave their sea.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel joined the chorus, celebrating the hard‑working brothers and sisters of Kachhi and describing the festival as a moment when the desert blossoms into art, brimming with nature and heritage.
State officials Jitu Vaghani (Agriculture) and Praveen Gordinji Mally (Transport) added their well‑wishes, speaking of happiness, health, prosperity and the opening of new doors for the coming year. Their messages reinforced the sentiment that Asadhi Beej brings a wave of optimism to the region.
BJP MP Mayank Nayak’s post summed up the collective hope: that the new year brings peace, prosperity and lasting joy to every Kachhi household.
