Arrest Made in North Kolkata Over Illegal Child Wedding and Abduction

Authorities in northern Kolkata have secured the custody of a suspect linked to a forced marriage involving a teenage girl. The incident, reported by a local resident, triggered an immediate filing of a case at Jorabagan Police Station. Investigators traced the trail to the Domjur region of Howrah, where they rescued the 16‑year‑old and apprehended the alleged perpetrator, identified as Armaan Alam.

Legal proceedings have been initiated under the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act of 2012. The girl received medical attention, and a protected, confidential statement was taken to preserve her privacy while enabling the prosecution to build a strong case.
