Armed Clashes in Uttar Pradesh: Two Criminals Wounded in Police Action

Two armed confrontations shook Ghaziabad districts on Wednesday, resulting in leg injuries to four suspects after police fired back. In Nandgram, a coordinated check by Swat, surveillance and local police at the Merti Tirahe crossing was launched following an informant’s warning about a potential robbery. When officers signalled a riderless motorcycle to stop, the two occupants resisted, firing at the police line. The response targeted their lower extremities, incapacitating both Arif and Zuber, who were subsequently arrested and moved to the district hospital.

The operation uncovered two gold bracelets, two 315‑calibre ammunition boxes, extra cartridges and the motorcycle itself. Both men have prior convictions linked to theft and snatching, prompting a deeper probe into their criminal history.

A second incident occurred in the Bhojpur police circle. Two individuals traveling from Modinagar towards Bhojpur on a bike were stopped, but they swiftly left the bike, fled into surrounding fields, and opened fire on the pursuing officers. Police returned fire, again aiming at the suspects' legs, and both were injured. The individuals, identified as Sagar Khan of Delhi and Shivam alias Dumru of Noida, admitted to a robbery carried out on July 28 while on a trip from Partapur to Noida. Confiscated items comprise a stolen bike, two more ammunition boxes, six live rounds, a laptop, cash and personal documentation. Both cases are now proceeding through the criminal justice system.
