Arjun's Accusations Meet CPI Call for Historical Context

Minister Adhav Arjun's demand for clarification on perceived irregularities in the state's highway and public works projects during the earlier DMK rule was met with a firm rebuttal from M. Veer Pandian, the state secretary of the Communist Party of India.

Pandian asserted that the left cannot be held answerable for the previous administration's choices simply because it extended external support at the time.

He stressed that any criticism directed at the communist parties must be rooted in a comprehensive understanding of their historical struggle and contributions. Pandian advised Arjun to study the chronicles of the communist movement and to present his findings to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for a balanced evaluation.

During a rally in Madurankam, Arjun questioned whether the CPI could honestly claim a spotless record while the DMK was in power.

Pandian dismissed this line of questioning, pointing out that the left's backing of the DMK was a strategic move to protect democratic norms rather than a blanket approval of all governmental actions. He warned that assigning blame for past mistakes to parties that only offered peripheral support misrepresents the nature of that alliance.

Pandian further emphasized that the CPI and its allies have no agenda to destabilize the present Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam government under Vijay's leadership. He pledged that political disagreements will be voiced through democratic mechanisms, not portrayed as an attempt to unseat the administration.

The CPI spokesperson also highlighted the movement's unblemished integrity, noting that no communist figure in the state's history has faced a court conviction for corruption. Party cadres have consistently refused bribes and have actively condemned any corrupt practices they have witnessed.
