AP Green Committee Gets Cabinet Rank Under New Chairman Naga Babu
An official order released by the Environment and Forest Department on Monday has elevated the AP Green Executive Committee to cabinet‑level status, appointing veteran actor‑politician Naga Babu as its chairman. The decision gives Naga Babu the same rank as a cabinet minister, reflecting the importance the state places on its greening agenda. The committee, formally known as the Andhra Pradesh Society for Greening and Reforestation for Ecological Enrichment, will now function with greater authority to coordinate inter‑departmental actions, fast‑track project roll‑outs, and supervise district‑level governing bodies. The overarching target remains unchanged: to increase the state’s forested and green areas to 50 percent of its total geography by 2047.
