Anna Hazare’s Health Complications Prompt ICU Care in Bombay Hospital

Mumbai – On Monday, veteran social worker Anna Hazare was admitted to the intensive care unit of Bombay Hospital due to a combination of viral infection, serious dehydration and kidney ailments. He is under the care of Dr. Gautam Bansali.

Hazare arrived in the hospital accompanied by caregivers from his native village, travelling in an ambulance. The physician indicated that a series of investigations are being conducted and that the treatment plan will be finalised after the results are available.

The activist first rose to national prominence during the 2011 India Against Corruption movement, after years of anti‑corruption advocacy and community development projects across Maharashtra.

In late July, Hazare addressed a group of twenty Indian Police Service probationers, underscoring that the nation's future rests on its youth, honesty and selfless public service. The officers visited his ancestral village, Ralegan Siddhi, to examine the local watershed and rural improvement initiatives.

During protests against the Cockroach Party, Hazare reiterated his belief that peaceful protest and democratic dialogue are the sole methods for resolving citizen grievances. He cited his 22 hunger strikes, affirming that he has never turned to violence and that negotiation remains essential.
