Anju’s Complaint Sparks Investigation Into Unknown Perpetrators

Haldwani, Uttarakhand – A formal FIR has been entered by the Nainital police against unidentified persons after a local resident, identified as Anju, lodged a grievance concerning a purported "shuddhikaran" ceremony held after a Congress rally led by Mallikarjun Kharge.

Senior Superintendent of Police Manjunath T.C. reported receiving more than nineteen separate applications from Nainital district alone, reflecting heightened public anxiety over the incident. After reviewing Anju's detailed written statement, the police moved forward with the case.

Anju, who resides in Haldwani, contended that no such purification ritual took place; she accused certain political actors of fabricating the incident and circulating edited videos on social platforms to serve partisan interests. No individual names were mentioned in the FIR, which charges the act to "unknown persons" under relevant penal provisions.

The investigation has been handed over to senior officer Jagdish Chandra of the IPS, reflecting the seriousness of the matter. Police have appealed to citizens possessing any evidence—photos, video clips, or eyewitness accounts—to get in touch with the investigation team.

The episode follows a previous "zero FIR" filed in Bangalore concerning similar allegations, underscoring growing concerns about misinformation. Anju also refuted the BJP's claim that the alleged ceremony was a reaction to "jihadi slogans," labeling the assertion as a deliberate attempt to sow discord.

Authorities continue to examine the claims, urging the public to avoid sharing unverified content that could exacerbate communal sensitivities.
