Andhra Pradesh Launches Public‑Facing Registration Service Centres

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on July 20 that the state is rolling out Registration Service Centres to streamline land and civil‑registration procedures. He dismissed allegations that these centres represent a move toward privatisation, stating they are modeled after passport service hubs to deliver quicker, citizen‑friendly services. Naidu ordered all officials to correct false narratives, reassure document‑preparation freelancers that their earnings will remain unaffected, and ensure timely disbursement of Deepam‑2.0 subsidies. He also raised concerns about a group of 81 petitioners who, on average, have submitted 246 applications each, urging a review to separate genuine public‑interest requests from attempts to damage the government’s reputation. The CM called for prompt handling of non‑financial complaints and a priority‑based approach for financial disputes. Additionally, he highlighted a 49% decline in rainfall linked to the Alnino pattern and advocated for the promotion of crop varieties that can withstand drought conditions.
