Anant Nag's Journey from Theatre to Dadasaheb Phalke Recognition

Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara addressed the Karnataka Assembly on Wednesday, celebrating Anant Nag’s receipt of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The minister traced Nag’s evolution from a 1970s theatre performer to a television pioneer and then a stalwart of Kannada cinema, where he appeared in over 300 films and won five major film awards. Parameshwara also recalled Nag’s brief political chapter, highlighting his tenure as a Legislative Council member (1989‑94) and his election victory from Malleshwaram in 1994. The deputy chief minister stressed that the award not only honors Nag’s personal achievements but also inspires the broader film and arts community across India.
