Punjab’s security apparatus struck a major blow against terrorism with the apprehension of a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative in Amritsar. The State Special Operations Cell recovered dangerous weaponry, including a hand grenade, sophisticated pistol, and ample ammunition, averting what could have been a devastating strike on a vital security site.
State DGP Gaurav Yadav shared details of the operation via a post on X, praising the SSOC team’s swift action ahead of Republic Day. The suspect, influenced by handlers based abroad—Nishan Jaurian, Adesh Jamrai, and Simma Deol—was plotting under their explicit orders.
Legal proceedings commenced with an FIR at the Amritsar SSOC station, as probe teams delve deeper into the module’s operations. This development echoes a recent Gurdaspur raid where five high-tech firearms were confiscated from a smuggling ring catering to local gangsters, also directed from overseas.
Yadav emphasized the force’s dedication to dismantling criminal networks that threaten Punjab’s stability. With Republic Day approaching, these back-to-back triumphs signal robust counter-terrorism strategies, bolstering public confidence in the state’s ability to safeguard celebrations and daily life alike.
The operations highlight the persistent challenge of transnational terror financing and arming, prompting calls for enhanced international cooperation to choke these pipelines at the source.
